Background

The International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) is seeking to recruit an intern for a period of two months, beginning around 3 August 2023.

ISM is an organization that brings together 43 countries, is organizing the XVIII International Congress for Mine Surveying, which will to take place in China from 26 to 29 October 2023. The Congress provides an excellent opportunity for you to meet colleagues from various countries, present your latest research and show case your outstanding achievements. The event is composed of a range of rich activities such as Keynote Speeches, Presidium Meetings, Technical Sessions, Postgraduate Forums, Exhibitions as well as other social and cultural tour programs. Moreover, the Congress will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of China's Mine Surveying and award outstanding students’ papers.

ISM is seeking an intern to aid in these activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the ISM Head of Secretariat, the Intern will be asked to complete tasks from the following:

• Assists in collecting and processing the relevant information and data of international universities and national mine surveying organizations;

• Assists in ISM website management;

• Assists in social media, traditional media and other;

• Assists in various administrative tasks;

• If multilingual, assists in translations and translation quality control of relevant documents, as well as outreach/inreach in other languages.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

• Current enrollment in or recently graduated from (within 1 year) a related undergraduate program.

Experience:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes (word, power point, excel) required;

• Excellent research, writing, communication, editing and time-management skills;

• Knowledge of social media platforms required;

• Knowledge of graphic design and video-editing software (Adobe suite, etc) desirable;

• Interest and/or experience in law, compliance, administrative decision-making, accountability mechanisms, alternative dispute resolution, and/or international development desirable.

Language:

• Fluency in written and spoken English required;

• Proficiency in other languages desirable.

Additional Information:

• Internship is located at ISM office in Xuzhou City, with the possibility to conduct the internship partly remotely;

• Internship will be for a period of approximately 2 months, extendable an additional 2 months based on performance, availability, and need;

• Internship will be full-time, with the possibility of part-time arrangements, depending on availability;

• Internship starts around 3 August 2023;

• ISM pays a monthly stipend to interns, which will be pro-rated for part-time and/or partly remote internship arrangements. For a full-time in-person internship in Xuzhou City, the monthly stipend is $ 200;

• Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, and accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
