In order to deepen the empowerment of smart cities and cutting-edge scientific research on disaster prevention and control, strengthen international interdisciplinary cooperation, and promote urban safety and sustainable development, the International Symposium on Smart Cities and Disaster Risk Reduction was jointly initiated by the Risk Knowledge, Monitoring and Capacity Building Division of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, China University of Mining and Technology, and Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The 2026 International Symposium on Smart City and Disaster Risk Reduction (October 23-25, 2026) will be coorganized by Xi’an University of Science and Technology and Aerial Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Group Co., Ltd. Of China Coal, and will be held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.
